Joe Gibb | Lucas Oil Offroad 9 & 10

Posted on July 25, 2015

Lucas Oil Races 9 & 10 were held at Glen Helen Raceway on July 18th & 19th.  Thunderstorms would ruin any chance of racing on Saturday night, but by Sunday morning the sun was out.  Saturday’s race would be run at 10am.  No practice, no qualifying, line up according to points.  That would put Fuel Off-Road Racing’s, rookie Pro Lite driver, Joe Gibb, at the back of the pack, starting 17th out of 23 trucks.  He made his way up to 12th only to be on the receiving end of a truck spinning out next to him, making contact with his truck and popping his tire.  He pulled into the hot pit, where his crew was ready and waiting.  As luck would have it, as soon as he pulled off the track, the yellow flag flew.  Caution lap.  Tyson and Jim quickly got to work changing the tire out and Joe was back on the track in no time.  Still on the lead lap, he would start from dead last.  When the green flag dropped, Joe, started making his way to the front quickly.  Making passes, avoiding wrecked, spun and flipping trucks, he would come to the checkered flags with a solid 7th place finish.  The rain would return Sunday afternoon and that would end the weekend of racing.  Joe can’t thank his title sponsor, Fuel Off -Road Racing enough for all the support this season.  Thanks to Danny Ebberts and the rest of the crew at Jeremy McGrath Motorsports for their hard work both in the shop and at the track.  Next stop is Estero Beach, Ensenada for the first short course race south of the border.  Stay tuned, this young rookie driver is just hitting his stride and is looking forward to finishing off this season strong.
